Dario Amodei, co-founder of Anthropic and former VP of research at OpenAI, has written a gripping 15,000-word essay. In it, he lays out his firm belief that artificial intelligence has the potential to change the world for the better, promising untapped prosperity, social progress and unprecedented abundance.
So what exactly is he predicting?

Amodei expects powerful AI to emerge by 2026, able to handle all software and hardware better than humans and, in doing so, solve the world’s biggest challenges.

Within 7 to 12 years, he predicts AI will treat infectious diseases, eliminate most cancers, cure genetic disorders and halt the progression of Alzheimer’s, potentially doubling our life expectancy to as much as 150 years.
