TODAY’S DEFINITION
Reinforcement learning
Reinforcement learning is an artificial intelligence method in which an agent learns to make decisions by interacting with an environment and receiving rewards or penalties based on the actions it takes, with the goal of maximizing a cumulative gain.
THE MAIN STORY
π§ Claude 3.7 Sonnet: The AI That Reasons

Introduction
In the ever-evolving world of artificial intelligence, Anthropic marks a turning point with the launch of Claude 3.7 Sonnet, a hybrid reasoning model. This innovation opens up new possibilities, combining speed with deep thinking to solve complex problems. You can learn more here.
Details:
-
Claude 3.7 Sonnet introduces an “extended thinking” mode that lets users follow the AI’s reasoning through a built-in scratchpad.
-
API users can control how long Claude thinks, up to 128,000 tokens, adjusting speed, cost and quality to match the complexity of the task.
-
On real-world coding benchmarks, Claude reaches SOTA (state-of-the-art) performance, beating competitors like o1 and DeepSeek R1.
-
Anthropic also unveiled Claude Code, an agentic coding tool in limited preview that can read, edit and test code. More details here.
Why I’m telling you about this ‡οΈ
This leap puts Anthropic right at the heart of the reasoning era, with improved coding capabilities and a brand-new agentic feature. While OpenAI is still working on a hybrid reasoner, Claude 3.7 could well kick off a new generation of models. In the long run, imagine building any app in just a few minutes to fit your specific needs, whether that’s tracking your workouts or managing your projects. On-demand features will turn that vision into reality, delivering limitless customization.
π Optimism Persists for Generative AI

Introduction
In the fast-moving world of tech innovation, generative AI keeps capturing the attention of business leaders. Despite the skepticism in the air, the enthusiasm isn’t fading, as Bain’s latest survey shows.
Details:
-
According to Bain’s quarterly survey, 60% of executives see generative AI as a top priority, a figure that’s holding steady compared with last year.
-
A tiny 1% of executives say generative AI isn’t a priority for their company.
-
In marketing, no less than 76% of professionals say integrating the technology has met or even exceeded their expectations.
Why I’m telling you about this ‡οΈ
The growing importance of generative AI in corporate strategy shows just how much this technology is part of a long-term vision. It’s seen not only as an innovation tool but also as a key lever for tackling today’s market challenges. This lasting confidence from executives underlines why it’s worth keeping a close eye on developments in the field and exploring how generative AI can play a beneficial role across different industries.
π Grok 3: The Newcomer Shaking Up the AI World

Elon Musk is back in the spotlight, but this time he’s packing a serious tech weapon. His company xAI recently unveiled Grok 3, an artificial intelligence that promises to shake up the current market leaders, OpenAI included.
What you need to know:
-
Grok 3 is shaping up as a formidable challenger to cutting-edge models like GPT-o1, Claude 3.5 Sonnet and Gemini-2 Pro, especially in areas such as math (AIMEβ24), science (GPQA) and programming (LiveCodeBench).
-
The community gave Grok 3 the top spot on Chatbot Arena, a leaderboard known for its impartiality, with an impressive score of over 1400.
-
xAI introduced a multi-step reasoning mechanism called Think, designed to improve logical problem-solving and reminiscent of the chain-of-thought techniques adopted by its rivals.
-
Deep Search, a new Grok 3 capability, digs deep into the web to deliver more contextual answers, competing head-on with OpenAIβs Deep Research.
-
xAI spared no expense developing Grok 3, pouring in ten times more resources than for its previous version, with the ambition of overtaking not just OpenAI but also Google and Anthropic.
-
The results speak for themselves: Grok 3 posts unmatched performance in record time.
The Grok 3 beta is currently available for free, and you’re encouraged to give it a try: Grok 3
Why I’m telling you about this ‡οΈ
The battle for AI supremacy is no longer just about the models’ built-in capabilities; it now extends to how they interact with the vast resources of the web. And while xAI is leading the dance with Grok 3, the competition remains fierce, with players like GPT-5 in the works. The playing field is huge and full of promise for users looking for innovation.

WHAT THE RESEARCH SAYS
π A Communication Protocol for AI Agents

Two developers recently presented an innovative project called Gibber Link. This sound-based communication protocol lets AI agents detect each other during calls and switch from human speech to direct data transmission. The goal? Cutting time and compute costs.
Details:
-
Built by Anton Pidkuiko and Boris Starkov at the latest ElevenLabs Hackathon, the project uses an open-source library for transmitting data over sound called βggwaveβ.
-
In a demo, one AI agent detects another agent on a phone call and switches to “dial-up”-style audio signals with transcripts instead of normal speech.
-
Using this sound-level-based protocol instead of speech generation cuts compute costs by up to 90% and shortens communication time by about 80%.
-
The design also ensures clearer communication in noisy environments compared with traditional speech-recognition-based systems.
Why I’m telling you about this:
In the near future, AI voice agents will be everywhere, and the volume of AI-to-AI calls is expected to grow exponentially, especially in the enterprise. This award-winning hackathon project offers a fascinating glimpse of how efficiency and cost savings in these interactions could open new paths for AI communication, no exaggeration.
